Thank You and A Speed Scrap Story

Many of you have left me very awesome comments on my templates, kits, and LOs. Thank you for all your kind words! It really means a lot to me. LOL, 3 people now have pointed out that I had a typo on the back cover of Emma's ABC book. Thank you! I fixed it before I submitted it to print. Now I just have to wait for it to come in the mail. I hope it gets here in time for Easter! If not, oh well. Emma has plenty of other gifts for Easter - my mom sent us a package full of stuff, plus I'd already gotten her a few things as well.

I'm really excited to see Emma's book in print! I ordered a 6x6 board book from Treasured Ink - it's gotta be toddler proof...and it ended up costing less than I expected, so that was a nice pleasant surprise:)

I'm working on the expansion for Retro Rainbow, my minikit for March's color challenge on BAM. It's looking great so far! I took pictures of random textures around the house after tonight's speed scrap and made overlays out of them.

Speaking of tonight's speed scrap...there's a crazy story to go along with it. For those of you who don't know, the way a speed scrap works is you have 2 hours to complete a LO. The hostess (well, usually a hostess - I've only run into one male digiscrapper, and by the look of his blog, I'm pretty sure he's gay;)) gives out instructions over the course of the first hour. You then have an hour to finish your page after the last clue is given, plus a 15 minute grace period for saving and uploading.

Well tonight, about 20 minutes after the last clue was given, our lights flickered. I frantically saved, and tried to post about it...but then the internet died! Thankfully, we still have power, but it's hard to upload a speed scrap page with no internet! I texted Kimi and Elly, since they were both participating (actually, Kimi was our hostess this round as well). I'm not sure if Kimi saw the messages, but I know Elly did, and she let everyone know what was going on for me. Thanks Elly! I finished my page in time, but still no internet. Boo. But, they were all super nice about it and decided to wait until I can upload to do the voting!! Thanks everyone!! I really appreciate that:) My internet came back up (after 3 hours of MIA) and now I can post my page!! I already posted it to BAM, so now it's time to post it here!

These were tonight's parameters:

1. Choose three photos. Crop them so they are exactly the same size and shape (or as close as you can). You may use different pieces of the same photo if you wish (close-up on face, zoomed out view, etc, I'll count them as separate photos). You may rotate the shape. Be creative!

2. Choose exactly three papers, no more no less. One must have a visible print of some sort. One must be plain-textured. One must be either worn, folded, torn, or messed up in some way. You may use them as many times as you like, in any way you like.

3. Find an element that in some way mimics the shapes of your photos, and layer it behind each one. It can be as large or small as you like, and only needs to be visible enough that you can tell it's a similar shape. You may use your papers for this piece if you need to, but try to find premade elements. You MAY use 2-3 different colors of the same element.

4. Add exactly three ribbons, strings, or ricrac strands (long straight or curly ones, no bows unless they're part of a bigger piece).

5. Pick exactly three more elements and use them any way you like, as many times as you like.

6. Add a THREE WORD title, using at least two different fonts. You may use alphas, as long as they are different.

7. Journal and/or date if you wish, and three cheers, you're done!

And this is what I did with them:

String, ribbon, glitter splatter, buttons - geniaBeana, Playtime

Anyway, that's all for tonight. Hopefully tomorrow I'll have some sort of freebie for you. Either a template or my expansion kit. Or maybe even both!! Anyway, goodnight!

Emma's ABC Book - Complete!!

Emma's book is all done!!  Here are all the pages, plus the cover and table of contents.  I went back and did some editing on all the pages.  Mostly, I just fixed the shadows, but some pages got makeovers as well (of varying degrees).  Phew!  This took a long time, but it's sooo worth it!

BAM Color Challenge QP and Z!

If you're looking for my minikit for the BAM blog train, it is now 3 posts down. It'd be quicker to just click on the blog train label;) This post features a QP made using a minikit and 2 addons from our color challenge.

I finished my Z page today!!! That means Emma's ABC book is done! Well...sort of. I need a cover and title page (because of how I want to print it) and I'm revamping some of my pages before I go to print. I want them to be perfect^_^ Here's my Z page:

Credits:
Photo - Kimi's husband (thanks Kimi for sending it to me!! I love the fact that it's 12" wide - PERFECT for this page!)
Green paper - Kimi's Kreations, Ready for Sun addon
Zebra paper - Tripalee, Put Me in the Zoo
Font - Twelve Ton Goldfish

Special thanks to Kimi and her husband for the beautiful zebra photo! I thought I had a zebra element in my stash, but either I was wrong or somehow misplaced it. I emailed Kimi to see if she had any zebra pics because she has an annual pass to an awesome zoo (we plan to go there with her this summer!!) and she takes lots of pictures there. Her husband snapped this one and she graciously sent it to me. I really appreciate it - thanks!

For those of you who liked my weekly challenge 20 page using addons from our blog train, I made it into a lovely quick page to share! Almost everything is from Ready for Sun by Kimi's Kreations (addon and blog train mini). The green paper strip is from geniaBeana's Playtime addon. These lovely kits are still available on their blogs, so stop by and grab them if you haven't already! And be sure to leave them love; they worked really hard to make these beautiful kits. Also, the LO for this QP is Kimi's template 21, which is also available on her blog.

There are 2 versions of this quick page: one with the "waiting for spring" title/wordart, and one without. The title/wordart is also included as a separate png. This quick page is a full-size 12x12 300 dpi png. LOL, ironically, I'm not really a QP person in general^_^ But it was fun to turn my page into one. Anyway, here's the preview:

You can download it here.

Now to go perfect Emma's ABC book:D I have another template in the works, so I will likely be posting that soon, as well as addons to Emma's Toybox and Retro Rainbow. We'll be starting next month's color challenge soon, and I have a beautiful palette ready for it. Wow, I've got a lot of projects! And I really need to work on Emma's baby book and revamp/redo some of my wedding pages. That was my first digiscrap project other than weekly challenges, and it's obvious;) I'm glad I didn't print them yet! Anyway, that's all for now! Night all!

Waiting for Spring and Y

If you're looking for the BAM blog train, it's 2 posts down:D LOL, I post a lot;)

Emma turned 16 months on Friday!! Can you believe it? I have a 16 month old o.O Crazy. She's doing great, by the way. She's still not really interested in talking, though she DID just start saying ball! I even got it on video:D It's too cute. She also says uh oh on occassion. And of course, mama and dada/daddy. She's also more receptive to learning some signs now. She knows please, thank you, cookie (she ALWAYS signs it...), kitty, love, and light. I'm trying to teach her book, but she claps her hands for it^_^ Emma loves to give us hugs, kisses, and high 5's. Sometimes she does it on her own, but mostly when we ask her to. Oh, and she has become obsessed with watching Sesame Street. She wasn't at all interested in TV until we bought her 2 Sesame Street DVDs. Now she points to the TV aaaaall the time...we only let her watch 2 videos a day (or the same one twice). I don't want a TV junkie! Anyway, I am overdue for a good long update on her, but it's late and I have a few pages to share before I go to bed.

First, I made an awesome page (I think so, anyway;))for this week's challenge on BAM. This was the challenge:

1. template by one of the BAM girls
2. graphic by one of the BAM girls
3. something yellow
4. black&white or sepia photo, vintage photo is acceptable too
5. personalize the font that you use in your title

This is the page I did for it, and everything I used was made by BAM girls:D

Credits:
Template - Kimi's Kreations, Template 21
Kit - Kimi's Kreations, Ready for Sun (mini and addon)
Green paper strip - geniaBeana, Playtime addon
Fonts - Too Much Paper, Acadian
Atomic Cupcake action - colored chrome

I'd like to make a QP out of this LO, and I have Kimi's permission to do so:) I'm just waiting on geniaBeana's permission beforehand. I THINK she said it'd be ok to make QPs out of her challenge kit, but I don't remember. The kits I used are addons of blog train kits, so check out Kimi and geniaBeana's blogs to get them! The full kits are GORGEOUS. LOL, I hope my expansion can live up to theirs;)

I'm hosting our color challenge for April, and I have an AWESOME palette made up for it. I'm so excited that I want to share it with the other BAM designers now, but I'm going to wait until April. But trust me, it will be beautiful, as will be the kits made with it.

I also made the Y page for Emma's ABC book today. One more page and a cover and I'm DONE!! YAY! Oh, and the way the printer I plan to go through prints requires a title page to make my pages line up correctly (I can make it a board book through them!). I just hope they can handle making a board book with this many pages...it's usually 10 pages plus a fee for each additional spread. Aaaanyway. Here's my Y page:

Credits:
Kit - Choukette, Sweet Candy Addon
Atomic Cupcake action - acrylic

Now I just need to find just the right thing for my Z page, make the cover and title page, and go through each page and fix any issues. I'm going to adjust the shadowing on most of them, too, since I only JUST learned how to edit shadows. And then resize them for the board book (6x6) and save as jpgs (I'll keep the full 12x12 psds, of course).

Aaaand it's time for bed. Night all!

W, X, and A Speed Scrap

If you're looking for the blog train, see previous post:D

We had another speed scrap on BAM tonight. It was really fun! For once, I wasn't scrambling at the last minute to get my page done. But I knew what photoshoot I wanted to pull from (some HILARIOUS pictures I took of Emma today:D) and I wanted to try out the kits from our blog train. I didn't use anything else, other than some fonts and Atomic Cupcake's rub on action. So that made it easier to pull everything together. I really like how my page turned out! This is the first time I've done a huge photo like that blended into the background, and I love it. I should do it more often. There were a lot of gorgeous pages tonight, so I have no idea who's going to win. I think I'm in the running this round, but we'll see;)

Anyway, these were our instructions, given throughout the first hour:

1. Pick two pictures
2. Pick 4 papers, to use as you like
3. Use one picture in the background. Extraction, blending mode, as you like. Or play with the opacity.
4. Frame the other picture
5. You may use up to 8 different elements, not including word art or alphas.
6. Include something BLUE! (cuz this is me)
7. Journaling or title must include song lyrics

Credits:
Blue paper, green paper, colored border - me, Retro Rainbow (BCC1)
Yellow paper, flower - Kimi's Kreations, Ready for Sun (BCC1)
Pink paper, rubber band, string, glitter splat - geniaBeana, Playtime (expansion - BCC1)
Song lyrics - Five for Fighting, Superman
Fonts - Tracy, Cry Kitty, Too Much Paper, Acadian
Atomic Cupcake action - rub on

Of course, after I posted my page I realized I journaled the wrong date! Oops! I fixed it in the PSD, but I don't want to reupload just for that. It should be the 26th, not the 25th. Oh, and it was completely Emma's idea to wear her Elmo swimsuit over her clothes...it made me think super hero, especially in the pics where she's holding a Loch Ness Monster souvenir I got in Scotland a few years back. Hence the lyrics I chose. She cracks me up!!

I also made my W and X pages today! Woot! 2 more pages and I'm DONE. Well, and I need a cover. But yay, the end is in sight, and I will easily meet my own deadline of the 31st. Here are the letter pages:

Xylophone - me! Will be part of Emma's Toybox addon

Atomic Cupcake actions - colored chrome, acrylic (and oak for xylophone)

Just an FYI, Kimi and geniaBeana's addons aren't up QUITE yet. But they will be soon, so keep checking their blogs! Mine will be coming, too - I just need to finish it first LOL! Anyway, that's all for tonight! Night all!

BAM Color Challenge #1 Blog Train!

The Baby and Me Color Challenge #1 blog train is launching! This is so exciting. This is my first blog train, and my 2nd kit. The challenge was to either make a minikit or a LO using the palette shown in the preview below. It was a really fun palette to work with! I'm making an expansion with it after I finish up the ABC book I'm making. Don't worry; I finished W today and will be doing X later tonight (after a speed scrap), so it will be coming soon. I know at least 2 or 3 of the other girls will have expansions as well, so keep checking for more! Here's a preview of my part:

You can download my part here.

U and V

I got my U and V pages done tonight!! I had to search and search for a kit with vegetables. I COULD take pictures of what's in my fridge and then extract them, but...let's face it - I'm lazy. So I spent lots of time searching for just the right thing instead;) I only saw 2 kits that would work, and neither were freebies. The realistic one actually cost less than the drawn one, and I wanted real veggie pics anyway. So...I bought it. Yes, I bought a kit. First time for everything LOL. I'm normally anti-purchasing when it comes to digiscrapping. Though...I AM going to buy some more actions from Atomic Cupcake, but that's more justifiable to me because they are SO versatile and I use actions ALL the time.

Ooh...IkeaGoddess listed template 20 on her blog today!! Yay!!! I now feel validated as a designer;)

Anyway, on to my new pages! Woot! I am ALMOST done with Emma's ABC book! I just have 4 more pages and the cover and I'm DONE! Weee! And here they are:

That's all for tonight! Stick around, since the BAM blog train launches tomorrow night! That's right, I'm participating in a blog train. My first one:) And with my 2nd kit;) Well, they're all minikits, for a color challenge. The colors are awesome and there are some beautiful minikits coming out - plus a few other goodies. Stay tuned! And goodnight;)

Template 20 and Key Krazy

I forgot to post the page I did for Monday's speed scrap! Silly me. These were the instructions, given out every 10 minutes for the first hour:

1. Three Pictures, One of which is of a body part (hand, foot, eye, whatever)
2. Pick Two-Three papers use them in anyway you’d like
3. Frame at least TWO of your pictures
4. Have an even number of circular elements (can all be different)... They don't have to be PERFECT circles, just circular.
5. Choose four other elements and use them anyway you like. (this includes any fasteners or word art you want to use)
6. Title Must have at least TWO words that start with the same letter. (the whole title doesn't have to start the same. But at least two words must, examples "Start The Same" or "Seasme Street" or "Singing The Same Old Song" What ever =p
7. Journal TWO sentences, and date

And this is what I did with them:

Credits:
Papers - Mandy Mystiques, Pink Christmas
Flower - Sweet Blossom Designs, Breakfast at Tiffany's
Matte, buttons, ribbon - Happy Birthday Collab by Digiscrapping.ch
Swirls (slightly recolored) - Kimi's Kreations, Peaches and Cream
Fonts - Oh Photo Shoot, Tracy
Atomic Cupcake actions - wild tear, tear, colored chrome, sanded edge

And now for template 20! Notice the new colors? I'm giving my templates more of a brand from now on:) I'm also going to add more "element" type things to make them more interesting. Just little things, really. CU credits for this template go to Atomic Cupcake for their stitching action and to Obsidian Dawn for the beautiful corner swirls. Template 20 is a single page LO in PSD format. Here's the preview:

You can download it here.

Emma's Toybox and Life is All About

Emma's Toybox is up and ready for download! I spent a lot of time on this one. This is my first "real" kit - or at least, the first one I'm making available. I got a bit carried away with making stuff, so it's pretty big - and I even cut out half the papers! I'm toying with the idea of making an add-on that includes some of the rejected papers, and making a few new ones as well. It won't be until April at the earliest, though. I need to finish Emma's ABC book by the end of the month if I want to get it printed and mailed to me by Easter.

But first, I have a pretty page to share. I'm making a template with this LO, which I will probably post later tonight. We did a recipe to scrap on BAM. It's similar to a speed scrap, in that you have certain parameters to meet in your LO, but you get all the directions at once and have a month to put your page together. These were the parameters:

1. Photo (as many as you want.)
2. Frame your photo, but don't use a frame
3. A Shape, any shape
4. Stitching
5. Doodles
6. 1 background paper
7. ribbon (at least 3)
8. word art

(These instructions were ScrapMatters' October recipe.)

And here's my page:

Credits:
Paper and ribbons - Happy Birthday Collab by Digiscrap.ch
Life is All About word art - Elegant Word Art by Bethany
Sweet girl word art - Elisja, About Girl
Glitter doodles - Kimi's Kreations (at my request^_^)
Atomic Cupcake actions - tear, colored chrome, stitches, sanded edge

And now for Emma's Toybox!! Emma's Toybox is a full-sized 12x12 kit at 300 DPI. Oh, and it's free;) Links are at the end of the post. Here is the preview:

Included in the kit are 20 papers, 60 elements, and 4 full alphas. All the toys are available as individual pngs, as well in the toybox. The toybox is available open and empty, closed, skewed lid, and skewed lid with toys. The lid also has it's own png. The word arts are all available with the decorative words and in plain black.

These are the pages I did with it. Since the entire inspiration for this kit came as I was planning for Emma's ABC book (T is for Toys, after all), I had to use it to make my T page - and S needed to work well against T, so I had to make S with it as well.

Pardon my ugly carpet LOL. It would look better if I extracted all the shoes, but it just wasn't worth the effort. That'd be a lot of shoe extractions!

And these are the pages my lovely "CT" made for me. It was pretty much an open call on BAM and my LJ digiscrap group, so I have quite a few pages to share. Hm, next time I'll make sure they're all the same size for posting. My internet connection isn't that great (ok, it SUCKS - it took me 2 hours to download something that was only 8.5 megs), so I'm direct linking from everyone else's image hosting. Hopefully that's ok;) Anyway, here are the pages:

Kimi (she used template 19 for her LO):

Kasie (she used template 14 for her LO):

Stacy:

Kim (2 pages)

Jen (2 pages):

Amy:

Elly (she used Kimi's template 8 for her LO):

Didn't they do a great job?! I hope you like the kit! I'm still learning about kit making, so don't make fun of me TOO much;) I've learned a lot through this process, so hopefully as I continue to try making kits, I'll get better and better at it. I'm releasing a minikit for a color challenge on BAM on Friday, and template 20 will be up later, so stay tuned!
