O is for Outside

I finally made the O is for Outside page tonight! I really like how it came out:)

I had a REALLY hard day today. I did do some fun things, but by the time both were over, Emma was being difficult because it was either naptime or bedtime. I've been on a crazy emotional rollercoaster all day. Just lots of frustrating or stressful things going on. And the fact that 4shared was saying I had 0 downloads of yesterday's template was pretty depressing. I was already having self esteem issues and that didn't help. I found out later that for some reason 4shared wasn't recording the downloads. So now I have no idea how many I got! It's currently saying there were 9, but I know there were more than that, based on the comments I got here and on 4shared, and the fact that Kimi said she downloaded it but that it was not registering the download in the numbers. Weird.

We had enrichment today. It was purse themed, and we had a lesson, some yummy food, played a couple purse related games, and made cute little purses out of fabric placemats and ribbon. But the ribbon was...well...cheap (no offence to my enrichment committee girls who read this!). It frayed past my double/triple stitching and one side came completely off. I went to Walmart to look for a better quality ribbon. I ran into a neighbor that I don't get to see very often (she goes to a community ward instead of the student ward), and she pointed me towards something even better than the ribbons I was looking at - a thick, braided ribbon that matched the little bag I sewed perfectly! It's going to be SO cute when I switch the purse string. I was going to break out the sewing machine tonight, but I forgot until after Emma was in bed and I keep it in a storage closet in her room. Yeah, not gonna risk waking her up for that.

Now, I know very little about sewing. I've made a few things, but they've all been very simple: curtains, nursing cover, simple quilt, hemming, and now this little purse. I have yet to learn to use a pattern. I did buy a PJ bottom one recently (and some fabric) to make John some new PJ pants. All his lightweight ones are pretty much trashed. I just need Jessica or someone else to help me with it. Problem is, everyone around me who sews is in school. I also have issues trying to set my machine up. I can thread the bobbin, I can thread the needle, but catching the needle on the bobbin...I have the hardest time with that. I have a very old machine (my mom bought it when I was a baby...), so it's not one of the easy-to-use machines of today. But it's a good, sturdy metal one and it works great. It's the user that's the problem;)

Aaaanyway, this wasn't going to be about sewing LOL. This is supposed to be about my new page. Normally, I do the ABC pages in sets of 2, so I can see how they'll fit together when printed. But this page took too much time for me to do another tonight! And the P page requires an extraction. I'll wait on that till at least tomorrow. So, without further ado, here is my O is for Outside page:

Oh, we did go swimming today, and it was fun, but trying to get dried off and dressed in a locker room with a toddler all by myself is VERY difficult! She kept trying to run away when I was trying to change! Yeah...next time I'll be sure to have other girls around when we go change. Nathan, Jessica, and Victoria all went swimming with us, but they left a little before we did, so I didn't have anyone to help with Emma in the locker room. And I'm not comfortable with the idea of her going into the men's locker room with John to change.

Anyway, I'd best go to bed. We've got a looooong day ahead of us tomorrow. John has home teaching at 9:45 AM, ward audit at 10:20 (he's the financial clerk), we both have an activities committee meeting at noon, church from 1-4 (during naptime...so no nap for Emma), a linger longer that we're in charge of, choir practice and I'm directing since I'm the assistant choir director and we don't HAVE an actual choir director right now (I REAAAALLY hope they find someone ASAP - and NOT ME!), and then John has to do more financial clerk stuff afterwards. Just shoot me now. This sounds horrible, and I feel so guilty for it, but...I'm starting to really hate/dread Sundays. They're supposed to be relaxing days spent with family - um...how is this relaxing? Yeah. It's not. And John being gone all morning before church and all afternoon after church doesn't exactly count as spending time with family. Oh, and have I mentioned that Emma doesn't nap on Sundays? Yeah...THAT'S fun...cranky toddler for the last half of the day. Thankfully John offered to take Emma with him to both his before church responsibilities. Yay! I'll actually be able to shower before church on Sunday! (I usually end up showered Saturday night instead.) But it's still going to be a long day. Hopefully it will turn out well, but I'm not feeling very optimistic about it. I'm dreading it.

We're having another speed scrap on BAM tomorrow, too, but I'm not sure if our hostess has decided what time we're doing it. Based on my insane schedule tomorrow, I will only be available for the evening slot. But with such a stressful day, I'm not sure if a speed scrap would be GOOD or BAD for me.

And now I'm babbling. But I'm definitely feeling better than I was when I ranted in my LiveJournal, for those of you who have access there (it's friends only - can't share EVERYTHING about my life with the whole internet;)). Time to sign off before I babble even more. Night all!

Template 19 and Trip to the Park

Template 19 is up and ready for download! We had a speed scrap tonight on BAM (my mommy forum), and I turned my LO into a template for you. This is the first REAL speed scrap I've done. It was really fun! A bit stressful towards the end, but wow, what an adrenaline rush! Instructions were given out every 10 minutes for the first hour and we then had a second hour to complete the page, plus a 15 minute grace period for saving and uploading. I was scrapping well into the allotted grace period and got my page up 5 minutes late. I hope that doesn't disqualify me from the voting. No one said anything either way after I asked about it, so hopefully I'm good to go.

Here are the instructions we were given:
1. Choose 1 background paper. Then choose 3 more papers that will be used in the background.
2. Your page must contain 4 photos. They can all be differnt, or some can be duplicated.
3. Choose 1 element, and use it 3 times on your page.
4. Choose 2 fasteners. Use them as much as you like.
5. Choose 2 more elements. You can use these ones as much as you like!
6. Add as much journaling, word art, and title as you like

And this is the page I did for it (from our attempt to go to the park this week):

Credits:
Striped paper and small trees - Scrap Matters Design Star mini kit
Dotted paper, big trees, and alpha paper - Project B Designs Time Stood Still
Green paper and journaling frame - Val (aka geniaBeana), Chocolate Temptation
Staple - MissVivi, Happy Birthday
Other fastener - NewLife Dreams, Happy Birthday
Fonts - Too Much Paper, Digs My Heart
Atomic Cupcake actions - wild tear, painted wood

There were a couple of things that needed fixing, but I didn't have time to fix them. I did so later in Photoshop, though;) But of course, the revised version doesn't count towards the speed scrap.

Afterwards, I turned my LO into a template to share:) Hope you like it! Template 19 is a single page LO in PSD format. I used one of Scrappin' Cops' CU bracket frames for the journaling tab in this template. Here's the preview:

You can download it here.

As always, I'd love to hear back from you and see what you do with my templates!

I have an idea for template 20, and I've been working on a kit that I hope to finish soon, so keep checking back for more! Assuming, of course, that you like my work;) Anyway, goodnight all!

Template 18 and A Couple of Things

Today Emma and I decided to try going to the park. Bad idea. It was cold, windy, and the grass was covered in snow and ice. We played a little bit, and I got some pictures, but we won't be going back until the stupid snow MELTS. I hate snow. I want to move back home where it DOESN'T SNOW (except, of course, when we went home for Christmas...). Honestly, I think we spent more time walking there and back than we did playing. We walked because 1. we only have one car and John had it for the day and 2. the park is only 2 blocks away anyway.

After Emma went to bed, I made a quick Walmart run. I got a few things we needed, but I found something awesome that we wanted anyway for a majorly awesome price! We've been wanting a bigger tent for awhile now. We have a puny "3 person" tent - which you know really only holds 1-2 people comfortably. There's no way we could fit John, me, AND a pack n play in that tent. At least not well enough to actually SLEEP. Ideally, we wanted a 2 room, but those tend to be expensive. Well, while at Walmart, I was pricing them out and found a 6 person 2 room tent for $54!!! I called John right away and we decided to buy it without hesitation. Yay!

Both the park adventure and the excitement of a bigger tent make me REALLY want spring/summer to show up! Come on stupid snow, MELT already!! I can't wait to take Emma to the park on nice days, or to take her camping this summer, or to go swim at the lake, or take her to the zoo (though I'd rather do that back home because the zoo there is AWESOME), etc. We're going swimming at the school on Saturday, so that should be fun. Don't worry, it's indoors! No way would we be crazy enough to swim outside in 20 degree + windchill weather!

I mentioned that I'm making a kit called Emma's Toybox. I've made tons of papers, some frames, 5 full alphas, and cut out some toys as elements. Unfortunately, it's been brought to my attention that releasing cut out photos of toys as elements would be violating copyright laws. Poo. Stupid copyright. I think that since we OWN the toys we should be able to do what we want with them. So...I won't be able to release the actual TOYS part of the kit. Bummer, since the whole premise of the kit is Emma's TOYbox. I'm still going to release the papers and such, but now I need to figure out more elements for it! And I'm still cutting out the toys for Emma's ABC book. I'm not sure when I'll have the kit ready. I need a break from it after hearing that sad news:( And I have to scramble to figure out what to do with it. Though...I'm half tempted to release it anyway;) I doubt the toy companies would ever know...but...I know I really shouldn't, so I'm not going to. At least that's the current plan;)

I did, however, make a cute signature for my mommy forum with parts of my own kit. I posted it last night, but I changed the tearing to white from the black I originally had it. I think it looks MUCH better in white:

I also have a template and a new LO made with it:) I made this page for the weekly challenge on BAM (my mommy forum). The challenge this week is to use Shabby Princess' Promise kit and somehow incorporate the number 8 in the LO. I knew right away that I wanted to have 8 pictures for mine. I planned to use 8 papers, too, but that would just be too much for the page I did. I used 4 and it was perfect. I also used 8 elements and template 18. Anyway, here's the page:

Right side:

Kit - Shabby Princess, Promise
Fonts - Oh Photo Shoot, Digs My Heart

And here's the template I made to make this page. Template 18 is a 2 page LO in PSD format. I've been doing a lot of 2 pagers lately. Hm. Need to do some single page templates soon. As always, I'd love to hear back from you and to see your pages with my templates:) Here's the preview:

You can download it here.

And it's definitely time to go to bed. Night all!

New Signature

I made a new signature for my mommy forum - with my own new kit! I'm making a kit called Emma's Toybox, featuring some of Emma's toys as the elements. I needed to do that for her ABC book (T is for Toys), so I figured I might as well make it into a kit ;) Cutting out the toys individually is a pain in the butt, but it will be worth it. I already have 40 papers, 5 full alphas, 6 frames, 3 frame clusters, 1 heart, 1 word art, 7 books, and 2 toys. I'm going waaaay overboard with this! I tend to do that. I still have lots of toys to make, though! I'll probably add another word art or 2 as well, and some other elements. I'll post the preview when it's ready ;) But for now, my new signature is a sneak peak ;) Here it is:

I hope people will like this kit! It's waaaaay better than my first attempt with that pink one. I think I'm just going to not touch that one again, unless I majorly revamp the elements. It didn't really have much of a theme to it, either.

Aaaanyway, everything in my signature is from my yet-to-be-released kit :) I used some AC actions on it, too.

As for me, our internet was down all weekend, so I spent all my computer time working on Emma's Toybox. And it's 4 AM and I need to get some sleep tonight;) Night all! Just had to share!

Template 17 and My Best Friend

Another new page, and another new template^_^ All but my latest templates now have over 100 downloads each! And those will soon catch up I'm sure; they just haven't been public long enough yet. LOL, one of them is being posted now, so obviously no one has it yet;)

But first, a little bit about our day. Emma and I had a little friend over today. Well, I was babysitting our apartment manager's 9 month old son. Emma had so much fun with her little friend! He's walking already, so that was fun. She prefers to play with kids who can walk around like her. She kept hugging him^_^ It was so cute and sweet. He didn't always like it, though - he wanted to move around, and her hugs stopped him. Plus, he's not all that stable on his feet, so she kept knocking him over when she hugged him. Both babies napped at the same time, which was AWESOME. They were both asleep when his parents came to pick him up.

Later in the day, Emma decided she wanted to play with my Bluetooth headset. She put it up to her ear like a phone! Of course, I HAD to put it on her ear and take pictures. I had to take a lot to get this really awesome shot:

Isn't that great? I entered it into the letter photo contest on BAM (my mommy forum). We started over again, so we're on the letter B. So, B is for Bluetooth Baby:D One of Kimi's pictures won letter A:)

Speaking of BAM, I just did my page for the weekly challenge. The challenge is to scrap your best friend. I have 2 best "girl" friends, but I opted to scrap my absolute best friend - my wonderful husband John. I was originally going to use template 15 for this page, but then I started writing my journaling...and there was no way it would all fit on template 15. So, I made a new template with LOTS of room for journaling. Here's my page:

Credits:
Template - me, Template 17
Background paper - SSarducci, A Walk in the Park
Journaling paper (multiplied, sanded away) - Happy Birthday, Tinette
Green paper - A Work in Progress, The Great Outdoors
Light green paper - AE Designs, Love Like No Other
Red paper - Cardamome, Just A Little Love
Argyle paper - A Work in Progress, Primary Grunge
Glitter, word art, staple - Gwenn, Cherry Moka
Swirl - Elodie, Cherry Moka
Books - Alliekat Creations, A Good Read
Fonts - Missed Your Exit and Digs My Hart
AC actions - sanded away, colored chrome

Since you can't read the journaling in the small saved-for-web size, here's what it says:

John is my very best friend. He is the sweetest, kindest, most loving man I have ever met. I’m so glad I married him! He is the best husband, the best friend, and the best daddy. I love him with all my heart. Little Emma adores her daddy. She’s always sad when she sees him leave for the day, smiles when I mention him throughout the day, and gets excited when he comes home. John helps me so much, from changing diapers, to doing dishes, to keeping Emma entertained while I make dinner.

John always compliments me and thanks me for everything I do, regardless of how insignificant I feel it is. He always says, “I love you.” John supports me in all my endeavors. He encourages me and gives me ideas and inspiration for all my creative hobbies.

John’s strong faith keeps me going. He always knows that everything will work out, even when it looks like things won’t. He never doubts. Ever. He is a great example to me and to everyone around him.

John is the most forgiving person I know. He is always the first to apologize, even when I’m the one who was in the wrong. He always sees the good in everyone, regardless of what they’ve done. When someone does something to hurt him, he forgives them right away. He harbors no resentment, no grudge. I wish I could be even half as good as him.

John loves his family. He is very close to his mother and siblings. He loves spending time with them, and with Emma, me, and my family. Spending time with loved ones is John’s favorite pastime.

John is fantastic with kids. Every child adores him. Kids we don’t get to see very often talk about him for days afterwards! Our nieces and nephews LOVE him.

Aside from spending time with family, John’s favorite hobbies are reading and watching good movies. Fantasy is his favorite genre for both. He also loves to sing and bake. His favorite thing about baking, of course, is eating it afterwards!

I love John. He is my sweetheart. I am grateful that we will always be together, no matter what.

John read it afterwards, and he cried^_^ He's so sweet. He loves the page, too.

Time for the template! Template 17 is a 2 page LO in PSD format, with room for 15 photos and lots of journaling. Ironically, template 17 has 15 photos and template 15 has 17 photos. Anyway. As always, I'd love to hear feedback and to see what you do with this template. Here's the preview:

Template 16, M & N, and 15 Month Check Up

Emma had her 15 month well baby check up today. She weighed in at 17 lbs 9 oz, is 28.5 inches tall, and her head circumference is 18 inches. Percentage-wise, weight = 0%, height = 5%, and head cicrucmference = 44%. Yeah. She dropped off the chart again. Diarrhea and no appetite for over a week will do that. Especially since she was in the 2nd percentile when she got sick. It's a little disconcerting that she fell off the charts again, but I figured it would happen. I just have to remind myself that charts are just that - charts. They're numbers. Numbers alone can't tell me my child is healthy. She IS gaining and growing, just at her own pace. She's thriving.

But, when we brought her in 2 weeks ago when sick, she weighed 17 lbs even. So she's gained 9 oz in 2 weeks. Can't complain about that!

When we took her to the ER in January for a high fever, the ER doc noticed a slight heart murmur. He said it may have been fever related, but to have her pediatrician check it out at her next well baby check up. I mentioned it today, and he spent a long time listening. Turns out she DOES have a slight murmur, but it's not going to cause any problems. He said it may have been there all along and just went undetected. It took her being sick with a fever for it to be noticeable, since fevers tend to make murmurs worse.

I also brought up Emma's lack of interest in talking. I asked when should I be concerned, and he echoed what one of the girls (who is studying speech therapy) on my mommy forum said: if she's not starting to say words by the time she's 2, then we might need to look into speech therapy. Though, Mom reminded me that I didn't talk much at all at 2, never had speech therapy, and I certainly have no problem talking now! The trick is getting me to shut up;) My sister, on the other hand, was a total chatterbox at 2. But she had an awesome big sister (me) to interact with;)

I had questions about her teeth, too. Emma has a big gap between her 2 front teeth. Greeeat. My mom and my brother (and his daughters) have a gap there. My mom and brother got theirs filled in, though, so you can't tell. I was afraid Emma had inherited it. But her pediatrician said it looks perfectly normal and that it will most likely close up as her other teeth come in (she has 4 fully in and a 5th on the way) and disappear when she gets her adult teeth. I'd hoped that was the case. He also said that dentists prefer babies to have a gap there because it allows the adult teeth to have more room to come in. I asked about taking her to a dentist and if he recommends one. Turns out there's one pediatric dentist in town. I didn't think we had ANY, so that's good to know. We only have one pediatrics clinic, and we go there. There are GPs, of course, but I prefer doctors who specialize in babies and children for my baby. Which reminds me; someone told me a few weeks back (shortly before we got colds) that late teething is actually better than early teething, because late teethers tend to have healthier teeth. I'm not sure how accurate this is, but it makes sense to me. I just hope Emma has MY enamel and not John's - I've had 1 cavity, he's had 15...one of which broke off and he needed a root canal, core build up, and crown put in last summer. Yeah. Please have my teeth baby!

Aaanyway, I have the next set of pages for Emma's book, M and N. These pages, by the very nature of the subjects I chose to use, had to be very different. Well, I guess I COULD have done a mommy page in black, but...I didn't want to. So even though they're very different, I think they'll work well next to each other. Here they are:

Credits:
Background paper, solid pink paper, solid green paper, curled corner paper, flower paper, ribbon, button, fastener, swirl by button - Happy Birthday collab, Miss Vivi, Tinette, Digiscrap_ch, Nini-lolo, Kafrounette, Choukette, and Newlife Dreams
Pink argyle paper - Plum Dumpling Designs, Brahm's Lullabye
Green striped paper - Raspberry Road Designs, Annie
Pink scalloped mat - Kathryn Estry
Bracket frame - Mel, Down by the Lily Pond
Bracket mat - A Work in Progress, Candy Dream
Swirl by M and butterflies - Fairly Fabulous, Love Thee
Heart cluster - Little Dragon, Forever Mine
Glitter heart frame (desaturated) - Claire7799, Mushroom
Pink glitter mat and rose (changed saturation) - Miss13, Storia Bella add on
Atomic Cupcake actions - colored chrome, painted wood

Credits:
Paper - Purescrap, Barcelona
Moon (colored chromed) - Brahm's Lullabye
Trees - Le Pingouin Designs, Winter Wonderland
Cloud (puffy felted) - MeganB Designs, Rainy Days
Stars - Obsidian Dawn, Stars brush set
Atomic Cupcake actions - colored chrome, puffy felt

I didn't really like any of the alphas in my stash for either of these pages, so I made my own. I used a paper and painted wood on the M page, and colored chrome on the N page. I don't have regular chrome, but colored chrome works great on light gray, too;)

I have a new template for you! I noticed awhile back that as I scroll through the thumbnails of my templates thus far, 9 and 10 would look awesome together as a 2 page LO. However, 9 has square corners and 10 has round corners, so they wouldn't really work. So, I made a new 2 page template combining the 2, with a few adjustments to cater to the double page setup. I was going to do both a square cornered and round cornered version, but ended up being lazy and just doing the rounded corners. I can do a sqaure cornered version upon request:) Template 16 is a 2 page LO in PSD format. As always, I'd love to hear feedback and see your pages. I still need to check that secondary gmail account LOL. Posting links here is your best bet;) Anyway, here's the preview:

Template 15, New Pages, and 15 Month Update

Ignore the timestamp on this entry. I started it while John took Emma with him to do a couple things and wasn't able to get back to it until much later. Had to make dinner, have FHE, and put the baby to bed before I could get back to it. Finishing it up around 1:30 AM...

The number 15 has always been significant in my life. As such, it's one of my favorite numbers. My birthday is on the 15th of August. Before I got married, there were 15 letters in my whole name (4 in first, 5 in middle, 6 in last - now my last name is 10 letters long, for a total of 19). The creek my parents live on is 15 miles long (and named accordingly...real creative...). And now, my little Emma is 15 months old. Coincidentally, I also have template 15 to share with you today:) I love it and am excited to use it myself:) But more on that towards the end of the entry.

I have yet to do a 15 month update on Emma. So, I'll do that now:) Emma is SUCH a fun little girl! I need to upload some of the videos I've taken with my new camera one of these days, so you can all see her cute antics. She has her 15 month well baby check up on Wednesday, but we took her in a couple of weeks ago for a ridiculously high fever (104.7 - eeep! Thankfully, we got it down to 101 by the time we went in) and she weighed in at 17 lbs. She lost a little weight in January when she had diarrhea for a week, but she gained back all or most of what she lost. It will be interesting to see where she is on the charts now, especially since she lost a bit of weight and she was in the 2nd percentile before she got sick. She's been consistently in the 2nd percentile since her 9 month check up. Before that, she wasn't even ON the charts! Teeny tiny baby, but she's growing perfectly. She's still wearing 3-6 onesies and 6-9 outfits. Yep, she's little!

Emma has a great schedule. Well, she wakes up a little early for my taste, but I'm not a morning person at all (that and I typically stay up till 3 AM;)). She usually wakes up between 7:30-8:30. John is mostly home in the mornings (class at 10:15 T-Th), so he gets up with her, feeds her, and keeps her entertained while doing homework so I can sleep in a bit. It's awesome. I don't know HOW I got so lucky to have such a great husband. He's the best daddy. Emma and I play with her toys and such after John leaves. We have lunch around noon, which is followed by my 2nd favorite time of day: naptime!! (First favorite is bedtime.) Emma typically naps in her crib rom 1-3 ish, but it varies. Some days she only naps for an hour or an hour and a half, other days she naps for 3-4 hours. We play and eat snacks as needed until dinner time. John keeps Emma entertained while I cook. After dinner, we get Emma ready for bed and she goes down for the night around 8. Of course, there is some variance from day to day, but this is our basic, general daily schedule.

Emma is now fully weaned! Woohoo! I nursed her for the last time on Friday the 13th LOL. I weaned her very gradually, just dropping one feeding a week. For the last oh, month or so maybe, we were down to just one nursing session a day - right before bed. Honestly, at that point, it was more out of habit than anything else, and for her comfort. She was teething and I wanted to wait until the tooth fully popped through before taking it away from her. But as soon as it was completely through, we were DONE. She had NO problem with going to bed without nursing, either. I was concerned she'd scream and fight it, since she'd always nursed right before bed, but she went down just as easily as she did WITH a nursing session before bed. That indicates to me that she truly was ready for it. I'm SO blessed it was such an easy process for us!

Emma does some of the funniest things!! She is SOO smart. We didn't really even "teach" her this (she's watched us do it all the time, though, and we tell her what we're doing when we do things), but she knows how to throw things away. We just discovered this last week. Emma had a paper towel that we'd used as a napkin for lunch and I asked her if she could throw it away. We were in the living room at the time. She then carried it into the kitchen, opened the cabinet (we never got around to proofing those...not sure if we can since it's an apartment), and threw it in the garbage can! And she's done it many times since! LOL, the other day, I was sick of boogers getting in her hair (runny nose + long hair in front = boogery hair), so I pulled it back with a hair tie. John was watching her for a few minutes while he worked on homework, and when I came back, her hair was down again and the hair tie was nowhere to be found. We looked around, but couldn't find it. Then John said, "maybe she threw it away?" Well, sure enough, it was in the kitchen garbage!!

You may have seen the pictures I posted about Emma throwing old formula samples we were given (and never used - I'm proud of the fact that I never gave her formula) in the Diaper Champ. At the time, I didn't know she knew it was a garbage can. Well, not long after that, Emma found an unopened toy in her room. She wanted to play with it, so I took it out of the wrapper. I asked her to throw the wrapper away. Instead of taking it to the kitchen, she put it in the Diaper Champ!! So yes, she knows it's garbage! LOL! My child thinks formula is garbage. I taught her well:D (No offense to formula-feeding mommies - I just don't like formula. I am VERY pro breast feeding.)

Emma loves to share her food with Mommy and Daddy. She will take a bite of something, or pop a small cracker in her mouth, and then put one in OUR mouths. She LOVES feeding us. Sometimes she's more interested in feeding US her food than in eating it herself... And tonight, she tried to get me to drink from her sippy cup! She kept trying to stick it in my mouth! It was so cute! But there was NO WAY I was going to drink her nasty whole milk. Ew. I like my milk skim, thanks. No nasty fat for me.

I mentioned in my last Emma update that she loves to watch me cook. Well last night, she wanted to help! She stirred the noodles and LOVED it. Of course, she can't really stir them hard enough for it to do much good, but she had fun.

Emma has a new obsession. It's called Mommy's New Camera. We've had issues with her wanting to play with the camera before we got this one, but now that we can do video, it's gotten more complicated. She ALWAYS comes over to see the camera when she sees I have it out. She reaches for it and wants to play with it. Uh, no. She also wants to watch the videos after we take them. She LOVES watching videos of herself!! It's so cute. She points at herself on the screen and sometimes even grabs the item she was playing with in the video. She tries to steal the camera away from me all the time, too. Ironically, she's not too interested in watching things on TV. Maybe she knows she's watching herself on the camera and loves that? *shrug*

Speaking of Emma's obsession with technology, she also loves our cell phones. Last week, I had just gotten off the phone with John and she wanted my phone, so I let her play with it a bit so I could brush my teeth. Then I heard the sound it makes when it's making a call...!!! It was the first time she'd made a real phone call (she'd dialed in a bunch of 333333s and pushed the call button, but nothing happened) Thankfully, she was just calling the number I last called, which happened to be John. Phew! But then, she closed the phone! LOL, she hung up on Daddy! He called back and I explained what happened. It was so funny!

She also pretends to talk on the phone all the time. Of course, when someone ACTUALLY calls and we put the phone next to her ear, she's quiet and just listens. But she gets mad when we take the phone back!

Emma is now starting to reach up and grab things off the dresser, desk, or bed. Uh oh! We have to make sure things are far enough back that she can't grab them! She also knows how to open all the dresser drawers...one time she took a lot of John's clothes out of our dresser! She also opens cabinets. She hasn't gotten into anything, though, and we're not sure yet if we're technically allowed to babyproof our apartment (we asked - still waiting to hear back). I know others have done it, but I'm leary about drilling into the cabinets of a rental without permission. Besides, we're always watching her like a hawk.

We discovered today that Emma knows what keys are for. Like most toddlers, Emma loves to play with keys. She's even pushed the panic button on the keyless entry a few times... Today, she had my keys and she went right up to the door and tried to reach the doorknob with the keys! She's still too short (thankfully!!), but she definitely knows what keys do. She's so smart! She just picks up on everything! We definitely need to make sure we're setting good examples about everything now that she's so aware of her world!

Emma is a great little helper. She loves to "help" with the laundry. She got all excited when I let her put some dirty clothes into the washer. She also helps me load the dryer. She likes to help clean things, too. She spilt some milk on the couch and I asked if she could help me clean it up. She grabbed a nearby paper towel and started wiping up the milk! The same thing happened with water and some antibiotics that we spilled while trying to give them to her.

In the bathtub, she grabs the washcloth and starts "cleaning" the tub! She "cleans" herself with it a little, too. She also looooves to play with her belly button. She knows exactly what it is, too, because when I asked her where her belly button is, she pointed right to it! She does this with facial parts as well, but only on us. She has yet to point to her own eyes and nose.

She also "brushes" her own teeth. She won't let US do it for her. SHE has to hold the toothbrush herself. She mostly sucks on it, but she moves it around a bit. I help her a little, just to make sure her teeth get SOME brushing action, but I'd prefer to get a bit more actual cleaning done in there. Oh well. She only has 4 teeth fully popped through, and a 5th on the way. At least we're developing the habit, right?

So, one of our neighbors won an Elmo Live at work. She doesn't have any kids yet, and it will be awhile before they do. They also have nowhere to store a toy that won't be used for quite a while. So...she gave it to Emma!! Oh my goodness, it was like love at first sight. She LOOOVES her Elmo! He dances, tells jokes and stories, plays Elmo Says, and more. She hugs him, carries him around, and everything. She wants to take him to bed with her, but he's too hard and mechanical for that. The only downside is he goes through batteries super fast. After a week, they were already needing to be replaced. Thankfully, we have rechargeables. But they take forever to recharge.

Emma usually sleeps with 1 or 2 stuffed animals now. She snuggles them, especially when she's tired. It sometimes varies which ones she sleeps with, but for the last few nights it's been the same 2. She hugs her stuffed animals throughout the day, too. She doesn't seem to be attached to any specific ones. The closest to an attachment she has is to her Elmo Live.

Emma loves to give us hugs and kisses! She does so on request:D It's so sweet. And sometimes she just randomly decides she wants to hug or kiss us^_^ We had a group FHE tonight, and she even kissed the 6 month old baby!! Uh oh, my 15 month old has already kissed a boy...LOL!

She's still not really that interested in talking. She sort of says "uh oh." She does the "uh oh" inflections, but she's humming more than saying the actual "uh oh" words. We think she said bye in context the other day, but we're not 100%. Ah well. She'll get there. She's so well developed in all the other areas that I think that's where her focus has been.

Yesterday, we discovered that Emma can drink from a real cup all by herself!! Of course, she usually spills, since she's used to drinking out of a sippy cup by herself. She keeps trying to steal my water glass...

Emma also loves to knock on doors. It's so funny; when she knows one of is in another room with the door closed (the other is watching her, of course), she goes right up to the door and knocks on it! She knocks on doors randomly, too. This is another thing she must have learned from watching us, since we didn't specifically teach her how to. At least, I don't think we did...*shrug*

Anyway, that's all on the Emma front. Now on to the digiscrap stuff!!

First of all, Gab made a gorgeous page using template 12!! This is the first time I've seen a LO with one of my templates by someone I don't actually know! Kimi and Elly have both done pages, but they're 2 of my closest friends. In some ways I guess it means more that someone other than my friends used it, you know? Anyway. I don't know how to contact Gab to ask permission to post it (I don't really know much about comments in blogspot - I'm used to LJ. And there isn't anything on her blog yet, so I can't leave a comment there). However, I figure since she posted the link in a comment here, that it'd be ok to post. If not, I can remove it no problem:) Anyway, here's the link: http://www.browniescraps.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=4027&ppuser=414. Isn't it gorgeous? I love the way she had the text go around each picture, and how the little blue triangles of paper between the pictures makes it look like a sun around the newborn center pic. The colors are really fun and vibrant. And her little girl is adorable, too!! Thanks Gab!!

LOL, so anyone else have a LO with one of my templates to share? I suppose I should actually check the email addy I have listed in my TOU. It's not my primary email and I always forget to check it. Heck, I don't even remember the last time I DID check it! It usually only gets junk mail, anyway. Note to self: check that email.

So, I did something incredibly stupid with one of my pages. So, every page, I save, resize it, save for web, and then close the PSD without saving the changes. Well...I accidentally saved the PSD in the save-for-web size on the D is for Daddy page. Oops! As a result, I had to redo it. Thankfully, I knew what I used for it since I had a list of the credits and was able to redo it pretty quickly. I made a few improvements, though. I added more papers and changed a few of the elements. I like it better now:) So, here's the new and improved version:

I have an awesome idea for a kit! I'm going to make it, but it will probably take awhile. The kit I started needs some work before I can consider making it available. It's currently on the back burner. But this other one will be really fun! So, for Emma's ABC book, I'm going to make a T is for Toys page. Naturally, it will feature tons of Emma's toys. Since I plan to extract them one by one anyway, I'm going to make a fun kit out of her toys! It will be called Emma's Toybox. It will have primary colors for papers and frames and such, and have lots of toy elements. Doesn't that sound fun? However, since I'll be cutting each toy out individually, it will take FOREVER. Cutting things out is a pain in the butt. I already did the keys for the K page, so I've got one down...but I have sooo many more to go! I haven't completely decided which toys I'm doing, but I will definitely be doing her Elmo Live, her toy cell phone, her ride on toy, some stuffed animals, some books, her stacking cups, her stacking rings, her piano, and one of her balls. I'll probably do a few at a time, so that I'm not majorly overwhelmed or anything. Need to get started on that...but I'm excited! I hope others will like it!

So, I had this little poll on the side of my blog for a little over a month. I was trying to find out what you'd like to see in a template. Only 8 people voted LOL. The main thing I wanted to know was if you prefer 1 or 2 page LOs. It was pretty evenly split between them. That's fine, since I plan to do some of each anyway:) I do whichever I feel like at the time. Square framed photos seem to be what voters want, though one person wanted other shaped photos. Well, template 15 features some circular photos for you:) When I make a template, I try to make something that I would actually download. Admittedly, some of my templates are way better than others. I'm learning and improving my LO design skills all the time:) I tried to incorporate the poll results in this template. I think it turned out great! I also took some inspiration from Kimi's templates. If you haven't yet, you should check them out here.

Template 15 is a 2 page LO in PSD format. As always, I'd love to see what you come up with with my templates:) I've only gotten pages from a handful of people (2/3 of which are my IRL friends), so I would LOVE to see more. It thrills me to see what others have done with my templates. I get warm fuzzies all over^_^ Feel free to leave feedback, too. If you have any requests, I'd love to hear them. Anyway, enough with the shameless plug. Here's the preview for template 15:

You can download it here. Hope you like it!! Thanks for stopping by! And goodnight:)
