Template 4 and Driving

Wow, quite a few people have downloaded my templates already^_^ Awesomeness. And a few people have left some very nice comments. Thank you! It's funny, when I started digiscrapping nearly 3 months ago, I had NO idea I would actually contribute anything to the digiscrapping world! Let alone apparently develop a knack for it, if you go by how many downloads I've had so far. At this point, I don't think I'll try my hand at kits, but...you never know. I didn't expect to be making templates, either.

Speaking of, I made another template to share. This one was designed to work with this week's challenge on my mommy forum. The challenge is a numbers challenge: 4 papers, 3 fasteners, 2 photos, and a 1 word title. I did a page using my new template, too. It was fun! I don't usually use fasteners (I like them, I just don't think to use them most of the time), and I tend to use more than 2 pictures per page. And using only 1 word for the title tripped me out for a little bit - and then I searched through my pictures and found the perfect subject for it: Emma "driving" the car. I like how this page turned out:)

Anyway, enough babbling from me. Here's the page I did:

Credits:
Cardboard and damask paper - Gunhild Storeide, cardboard and damask papers kit
Pink argyle paper - Brandy O'Neal, MegaDoodle Inspired, argyle papers kit
Pink flower paper, brown glitter flower paper, ribbons, glitter stars (slightly modified), staple, and metal fastener - Happy Birthday Collab kit by Choukette, Nini-lolo, Kafrounette, MissVivi, Newlifedreams, and Digiscrap_ch
Buttons and little flowers - Susan Darter, Raspberry Road Designs, Mother's Love kit
Pink flower - Sweet Blossom Designs, Love Me Forever kit
Binder clip - CuddleBeez, Treasured Past kit
Alpha - Digitreats, Giggle apha add-on
Actions - Atomic Cupcake, simple tear, torn cardboard

And here's the free template:

You can download it here.

Thanks for stopping by! If you use one of my templates, I'd LOVE to see your page! Feel free to send me links:)

Valentine's Page - Using Template 2

I made a page using my Valentine's template. I would have posted it sooner, but my upload speed is ridiculously flakey. Sometimes I can upload, but most of the time, I have to email my uploads to either my sister or one of my close friends and have them break into my Photobucket account for me:D

Anyway, back to the page. I love how it turned out! I used soooo many bits and pieces from several different kits (all freebies, too)! Seriously, this page is loaded. This will be my Valentine's card to John. Shhh, don't tell him! I think I'm going to make another one for Emma using this template. Anyway, here's the page:

Credits:
Template - me:D
Background paper - CuddleBeez, Cushy kit
Brown and red heart paper and labels word art - Piccolina Designs, Chocolate Valentine kit
Striped paper, plaid paper, double white hearts, and jeweled heart - Debbie Nolen, Paisley Passion kit

Corner Valentine's word art - KL Winters
I love you overlay - Jamie Dell

*phew* That's a loooong list of credits!! Hope you like it!!

Speaking of holidays, I have yet to post my Christmas card and the Christmas present I made for our family. Our parents got 8x10s and our siblings got 4x6s. Which reminds me, I still need to mail a couple of them to the siblings we didn't get to see over Christmas. LOL, if they see this (I'm sending them the link here), they'll have a preview of what will be coming in the mail when I finally get around to doing it LOL. The envelopes are addressed, they just need stamps (which I already have, so that's easy enough) and a letter/note explaining and such. That's what's holding it up - I haven't written it yet. Aaaanyway. I ramble. A lot. On to the pages!

Christmas card:

Paper and elements - Le Pingouin Designs, Winter Wonderland
Sparkly elements - Scraplandia, Christmas in Scraplandia

And here's our Christmas present for the family:

Paper - Kafrounette, Happy Birthday kit
Alpha - Michelle Sims, Twilight Obsession (I think this is my fave alpha - I've used it 3x already!)
Hearts - A Work in Progress, Breakfast at Tiffany's kit (modified - now I have the song stuck in my head LOL)
Flowers - Clair7799, Mushrooms kit

Now, aside from a couple of signatures I made myself for my forum, all my pages are uploaded to this blog:D I should post those, but I'd have to go searching for which kits I used LOL!

In other news, Emma is now 14 months old today! Well, in about half an hour - she was born at 12:59 AM. She's been teething for the last few days. Ugh. TORTURE. I hate teething. It bites. Literally. But at least she's not sick anymore (I think?), so that's good. Her appetite is back now, and the diarrhea-induced diaper rash is almost gone.

Anyway, I'm off to download more freebies:) Or maybe make another template. We shall see. I should start on our taxes, since we got the W2 today...but I don't really want to:D

Templates 2 & 3

I made 2 more templates today! I'm just in template making mode, I guess. Both are free 12x12 PSD templates. I'm a definite fan of free^_^ I signed up on DigiFree and DigiScrapDepot, but I have yet to see Template 1 there. It probably takes while for them to show up.

The first one is a cute Valentine's template. Of course, you can use it for other things, too;) I'm going do a page with this one soon (like, right after I finish this post, so stay tuned). Here's the preview:

You can download it here.

Next, I made a fun lattice-work template. The lattice was impossible to do the way I wanted with the layers and all, but I think it still turned out nice:) Here's the preview:

You can download it here.

Hope you like them! Feel free to send me your LOs using my templates:)

First Template - Template 1

I decided to make a template out of my In Daddy's Shoes layout. This is my first attempt at making a template. It's a 2 page LO in PSD format. I hope people like it! Here's the preview:

You can download it here.

Hope you like it!

New LO - Week 12

This is my page for the week 12 challenge on BAM, using a kit made by one of the ladies there. It's a 2 page spread. I absolutely LOVED working with this kit! It's so fun to scrap with! I will definitely be using it again.

I'm happy with how this one turned out:) All the pics had bad red eye in them, and since I have an older version of Photoshop, I don't have a tool for it. But I found a tutorial online and it worked great:D

Anyway, here's the page:

Credits:
Papers, elements, and alpha - GeniaBeana, Queen for a Day kit (original and add-on)
Actions - Atomic Cupcake: simple tear, tear, wild tear, rub on

Enjoy!

Sick Week

Not sick day, not a few days, but yes, a whole week. Well, close enough, anyway. Just a day shy of it, really, and though things are definitely improving, I don't think we'll be completely sick-free by tomorrow.

Just a quick recap of our sick week (not that anyone reads this blog yet anyway): on Saturday, Emma started having diarrhea...and it's not gone yet. It's now in small amounts and less frequent, and she's had a couple of normal poops today. But it's not completely cleared up. (I'm sure when she's a teen she'll LOOOVE that I talked about her poop all over the internet;)) By Sunday, she had a bad diaper rash from the diarrhea. Sunday night/Monday morning, Emma woke up screaming at 4:30 AM. She had a blow out diarrhea diaper and had thrown up in her crib. Needless to say, she got a bath right then and there. Then on Monday, John started throwing up. Greeeat. Sick baby AND sick hubby.

Emma's diaper rash got progressively worse - it was AWFUL - until we took her to the pediatrician on Tuesday. He prescribed her Westcort, an ointment with a steroid, to help clear up the rash. It has worked WONDERS. The rash had already improved drastically by Wednesday morning. Now, only a little remains. But we're still not in the clear. Either on Tuesday or Wednesday, I started feeling queasy, too! Guess it's a family illness. It's hard to take care of a sick baby when you're sick, too. Thankfully, I never threw up. John and I have both been queasy off and on. Wednesday morning, Emma had a fever. It lasted all day, and finally broke this evening. We took her in to the pediatrician again today as a result. The doctor thinks she'll start getting better very soon, but that we have to let this nasty virus run its course. I hate cold and flu season.

Emma hasn't had much of an appetite this week, so getting her to eat has been difficult. Because of the diarrhea, her pediatrician wanted her on a BRAT diet. Well, she kept refusing the foods on it. She WAS willing to eat a few things NOT on it, and at this point, I just want her to eat. We know for a fact that she's lost 5 oz in less than 2 days (since we went to the doctor twice this week), and since she was in the 2nd percentile for weight prior to getting sick...yeah, I'm concerned. She's also refusing to drink anything. I'm trying to keep her hydrated while she has diarrhea, but she is making it difficult.

The fever may have been caused by something other than being sick, though. I noticed a little white speck in her mouth after dinner...so I picked her up and took a peek. Sure enough, there's a new little tooth that just popped through. No wonder she's been fussy and clingy today!! Poor baby! We thought it was just from being sick, but she was teething as well! So maybe her fever was from teething? She didn't have a fever when she cut her bottom teeth, but this is a top tooth and I've heard those are worse. At this point, I think the fever was a combination of being sick and teething.

So yeah, that's our crazy sick week in a nutshell. I really hope we all start feeling normal again tomorrow. Being sick is no fun at all!

Our Wedding Book - Complete

Here's my first complete digiscrap book. Obviously, it's of our wedding;)

I've tweaked a few things on some pages, but haven't uploaded them.  I may make more changes later. These are all in 2-page spreads (except the cover LOL), so the credits are for 2 pages at a time. So here's the whole book, in order:

Working with Blog Templates

Go figure. I can use a digiscrap template no problem, but trying to figure which blog template to use that WON'T chop off my pages is a little more difficult. I DID find one that works, but, now the cute background I wanted to use won't work with my new template. Gah. Picked another one, and it's cute, I guess, but I don't LOVE it the way I love the other. Sadness. But the backgrounds are limited with this template. I'll have to make my own one of these days. Aw well. This works for now.

Blog List

So I just added a TON of people to my blog list. They're all people who are/were in our ward. I wonder if they'll be notified I added them? *shrugs* We shall see. Who knows if they'll even see my digiscrap blog? Now to sift through my email and LJ pages to add my friends who have blogs here as well.

Still trying to figure out a way to fix it so my pages aren't half chopped off. I really want this to work. Looks like I'll have to do some resizing or something. Arg. The pages are so detailed that the bigger they are, the better you can see them. If I make them small enough to fit into this narrow window, you won't be able to see all the details. Hmm.

Grrr

So for some reason, it chopped off half of each page because the stupid window is ridiculously narrow. How the heck do I fix that?! I want the whole pages to show, not just PART of them...if I can't fix it, I'm not going to waste my time posting anything here. Why post when it's not even going to show up right? Anyway, I'm annoyed. Looking around for ways to fix it...

A New Blog - and MAJOR DigiScrapping PicSpam

Welcome to my new digiscrap blog!  I created this blog solely to share my digital scrapbooking pages with friends and family (and whoever else happens to stumble upon it).  My real blog is at LiveJournal.  I know, how antiquated, but...I have archives dating back to 2003.  I'm not about to uproot myself and start somewhere new.  Plus, most of my friends use LJ:)  I will likely post a few random snippets from my life here, but nothing super personal.  That's reserved for my LJ friends-only entries.

Now to move in and get myself comfortable here.  I want to do a cute LO, but I'm not sure how to do that.  I'm brand new to the whole blogspot thing.  I want to digiscrap my LO, but I want to be sure that's ok with all the TOUs and such.  Of course, I would give credit where credit is due;)

For those of you wondering what digiscrapping is, it's digital scrapbooking.  It's like paper scrapbooking, but digital (duh;)).  I love it.  You download the "papers" (backgrounds) and the "elements" (cute little decorations) - they usually come packaged together in a matching kit - and put things together in a graphics program.  I use Photoshop 7.  I would LOVE a newer version of Photoshop, but that just isn't an option right now.

Anyway, on to the pages.  These are all the pages I've done so far, except for my wedding pages (will be in another post), in order from oldest to newest.  It's funny; I thought my first pages were SOO good...now I'm thinking I want to go back and redo them LOL.  I first started digiscrapping early November.  Considering how long I've been doing it, I think I'm pretty dang good;)  But, I was already familiar with Photoshop AND with paper scrapping, so that definitely helps.

The mommy forum I frequent (Baby and Me) has weekly digiscrapping challenges.  Whoever wins the weekly challenge then hosts the next challenge by picking a theme, a kit, or whatever.  I have now won twice:)  In fact, I'm hosting this week's challenge.  So, many of my pages are entries to the weekly challenge.  I also recently scrapped our wedding.  What I REALLY need to do is work on Emma's baby book, which I started paper scrapping ages ago.  But, to continue where I left off, I'd need to find some way to recover my crashed hard drive...

Anyway, here are my pages.  Credits are listed below each page.

Halloween 2008
My very first set of pages.

everything is from the Ginger Scraps Jack-o-lantern Mega Kit

Isn't she the cutest little monkey ever? Her little cousin Noah was a banana, so of course we had to get pics of them together^_^

First Trip to the Lake and 4th of July
Here's another I entered for BAM's digiscrap weekly challenge, using Scrap Girls Refresh kit. I do everything in 2-page spreads, since I plan to print them out and put them face-to-face in a scrapbook.

10 Months
Next, I made a 10 month page for Emma. Credits are listed below the pages:

History of Freedom - Week 3 Challenge
My 2 page spread won this week!! Woohoo! I'm excited^_^ Which means I got to pick the next challenge. The theme was "This is my country" with red, white, and blue. This is the page I did for it:

Simply Yin template 63 - modified
Red paper - Scraplandia, Christmas in Scraplandia kit
Blue star paper, silver heart - LiviaY, Sunshine Studio Scraps, Winter Sparkle kit
Red white and blue stripes and circles paper - Shabby Princess, Celebrate kit

Declaration of Independence photo - Google image search (I closed the tab before remembering I needed to site image sources )
Benjamin Franklin photo - Wikipedia
Gordon B Hinckley, Thomas S Monson, and Seattle temple photos - lds.org

Explanation:
Emma - taken on her first 4th of July
Flag cake - family tradition on the 4th of July
Declaration of Independence - pretty obvious
Benjamin Franklin - again, obvious, but he's also a cousin of mine several generations back
My grandpa in a kilt - he was in the navy during WWII and wasn't allowed to tell Grandma where he was. She had no idea if he was safe or not, since she couldn't find out where he was. So when he was in Edinburgh, he dressed up and got his picture taken at one of those tourist places and sent it to her. Because of the picture, she knew he was safe in Scotland.
Picture of campus where I went to college and where John currently goes
3 pictures of LDS temples - one is where John and I got married, one is where my parents got married, and the other is the one closest to us (just 5 min away)
Pictures of Gordon B Hinckley and Thomas S Monson - recent past and current leaders of my church
Big waterfall - where John proposed and where we spent our honeymoon
Small waterfall - my parent's backyard. I used to go down to the creek any time I was upset or needed time to myself.

Gratitude - Week 4 Challenge
Here's my entry for Week 4. The theme was Gratitude. I picked the them this time, since I won the Week 3 challenge. Again, it's a 2-page spread. I noticed after I posted that 2 of the pics aren't perfectly lined up in the circles, but I'm too lazy to re-upload it :)

Pranks at VBT - speed scrap challenge
This is my entry for the speed scrap challenge.  We had exactly 2 hours to scrap a page. I had a hard time with this one. I wanted to try out the new template I dl'ed. Finding pics to work with this kit was really hard for some reason. I'm not sure I'm satisfied with it. Anyway, here's my page:

Credits:
Little Moments Like That - Andrea
Template - Camilla's Kitchen
Alpha - thisispapier.blogspot.com

Ok, so there's a story behind these pics. I used to work at a software company as the admin assistant. When someone went on vacation, the other engineers played some sort of prank on their office. Sadly, I don't have pictures of them all. One time they decorated someone's office in pink bubblewrap in honor of his new baby girl. I wish I had the pics from that one! Anyway, as you can see, they wrapped everything in tin foil in one office. We filled another with balloons. When marketing was at an off-site meeting, the engineers moved all the marketing team's desks into the marketing VP's office. So there you have it. Pranks from work.

Our Family is a Zoo - LOL!
So...Kasie (a friend on BAM) found a zoo kit and posted it in the "ugliest kit contest" thread (that I started).  One of the elements pictured was a tiger, and I thought the tiger was kinda cute.  So...Kasie said I should make a page with it.  I mentioned that my mom's bathroom is all animal prints, and both Kasie and Shannen were teasing that I should make a page for Mom's bathroom (to hang above the toilet LOL)...hehehe, and I did ;)  I made it as an 8x10 so Mom can frame it.  You know, it actually turned out kinda cute!

Ironically, the tiger in the preview wasn't even in the kit...

Amusingly enough, I gave it to Mom when we were home for Christmas break...and she loves it! But instead of framing it and putting it in her bathroom, she framed it and it's sitting on the cradenza in the dining room!

So here it is:

Sleeping with Daddy - Week 6 Challenge
This is my entry for the week 6 challenge.  At first, I didn't think I could do this challenge.  I don't have any "night" pics.  My camera doesn't do dark photos well and the few I DID have are on a crashed hard drive anyway.  I mentioned it to John, and he came up with this great idea of using pics of him and Emma sleeping.  So...that's what I did!  They might not all technically be night pics, but eh, it works for me.  Hope that's ok :)

Thankfully, I already had several kits I could pull from for the colorscheme aspect, and templates are always fun :)  It was fun to do this page, because these aren't shades I typically use, nor is this the style of template I lean towards.  It was fun to get out of my comfort zone a little :)

Anyway, enough babbling from me.  Here's the page:

Fairy Tale Moments - Week 7 Challenge
This is my entry for the week 7 challenge.  The theme, in addition to using this kit, was fairy tale moments.  I couldn't think of anything to fit the theme, so I asked John, and he came up with the idea of using several fairy tale moments in our lives. And that's what I did! This is also the first time I've done a cut out.  I think it turned out well :) Here's the page:

Emma's First Birthday, 1 & 2
This is the first of the 2 page spreads I'm doing for Emma's birthday.  Kimi uploaded it for me since my internet connection sucks, and pointed out that "birthday" is messed up...but it's a word art. Kimi is teh awesome and fixed it for me:) I had to send her the original word art and she made me a new one almost exactly like it. But I don't have the fixed version uploaded, so you'll just have to live;) I absolutely LOVE how this spread turned out! I submitted this spread for the week 8 challenge, as the theme was glitter.

A Moment in Time - Week 9 Challenge
Here's my entry for week 9. The theme was "A Moment in Time." It's not my best, but it's ok. I tried to add more elements, but it just wouldn't work well with this template. Ah well. At least I'm participating ;)

These are all pics of Emma and one of the family cats at my parents' house. Of the 5 (yes, 5...), he's the most laid back and tolerant of young children (though he scratched Kimi's Richie when he was Emma's age). He DID swipe at her a couple of times (once right after one of these photoshoots - the one where her face is right up by his), but his claws weren't out when he did. LOL, this cat weighs more than Emma! He was 17.5 last time we weighed him, and Emma was 16 lbs 13 oz last weigh in. I'm sure she's gained since then, so they're probably about the same weight now. He was 19 lbs at one point. Fat fat cat! Anyway, on to the entry:

Cousins - Week 10 Challenge
This is my entry for the week 10 challenge.  The theme was "the ties that bind" and I chose to use pictures of Emma with all her cousins.  I'd been wanting to do a cousins page for awhile, so this challenge was perfect for it!  Also, part of the challenge for PS users was to use at least 1 action.  No problem there; I love using actions!  I really like how this page came out.
BTW, in case you can't read it, the word art says, "God made us cousins because He knew our mothers couldn't handle us as siblings."  Also, on the picture of my neice Rachel in the dog's kennel, Laini made a sign that says, "Please don't feed the animals" - and my other neice (her sister, Alex) is feeding her a cracker, LOL!

Because I Love My Duck & You Can Share My Toilet - Week 11 Challenge
And finally, here's my entry for week 11.  We had to use this kit, plus a quote from a favorite movie or TV show.  I couldn't think of a quote that I wanted to use for the life of me.  I googled movie quotes and looked and looked and looked through the quotes for my fave movies, and found very little that I could scrap with the pics I have.  I finally got inspiration while looking through Emma's pictures. Ironically, I already had the song in my head, but I'd forgotten that I had these pics.  I'm happy with how this one turned out :D  This page won the challenge:)
